I’m far from a Pearl fan other than this series from the early 90’s and of Course Dennis Chambers and his Pearls always sound Phenomenal! There’s a video I guess from the past year or so when Dennis is showcasing his kit and doing a solo and his playing is as phenomenal as ever and the kit sounds incredible! Also, I only sat behind a pearl reference series kit one time about 10 years ago and it sounded better than any DW kit I’ve ever heard in my life. I do remember thinking for $4400 this kit was one of the best kits I’ve ever heard in my life and it was actually worth the $4000 price tag. In the past I’ve never sat down behind a kit that was over 2500 or $3000 and thought it was worth it unless it was a Yamaha, Gretsch or Tama, but the Reference series blew me away. This kit as well sounds ANAZING.

He's wrong about having to have the tom mount further from the batter side. Those mounts would let him position the toms further away due to their ability to swivel around, even if the mount itself was installed closer.

How low Or high snare drum stand you play drum setups simon phillips?

He could have his 14" deep bass drums if he had a rack.. And he wouldn't even need tom mounts on his bass drums then. It's not like his kit is designed for efficiency of setup/teardown, so the fact that he doesn't use a rack which were literally made for setups like this is crazy to me. Plus a kit that size easily eats up a lot of floor space on its own, and now we're throwing in a bunch of tripod stands on top of that? Smdh To put it more simply, his bass drum woes stem from his own unwillingness to adapt. Great drummer though, just hate to see a player of his caliber talk about dealing with an easily avoidable issue.
